Tribedi
Women Social Development Association -TWSDA, a women focused,
non-profit making and non-political development organization
committed to reduce poverty of the highly disadvantaged
underprivileged poor community peoples especially the women,
adolescents and children at grassroots level through implementation
of various development programs. TWSDA was established in
1993 and continuing all efforts towards its commitment through
mainstreaming gender in a participatory process.
TWSDA is registered with various Departments of the Government
of Bangladesh. This has registration with NGO Affairs bureau
of Bangladesh in 1996; Directorate of Social Services in
1998 and Department of Women and Children Affairs in 1994.
Goal: To improve
the quality of lives of the disadvantaged and underprivileged
poor community peoples especially women, adolescents & children by undertaking activities those have social, economic
and environmental values and to poverty free society.
Objectives:

To
provide support to the target people in various forms
and manners including financial, institutional and advisory.

make the target people enable in identifying their own
resources what they have and selecting Income Generating
Activities (IGAs) for creating self-employment opportunities.

To
undertake non-formal primary education program for making
the women & children literate, socially aware and
to become conscious person through life based practical
education. |

To
make the target people gender sensitive to minimize
the gaps among women and men. |
|
To
create awareness on human rights and good governance
and provide legal support to the women and children. |
|
To
ensure safe water supply and sanitation for the poor. |
Geographical
Coverage:
TWSDA has been working in the 5 southern districts of Bangladesh.
The districts are Lakshmipur (Head Office), Noakhali, Feni,
Cox's Bazar and Chandpur. TWSDA is also in pipeline to expand
its activities in slum areas of Dhaka City and different
development project with ethnic society of Satkhira and
Chittragong Hilltracts (CHTs).

Working with GNAEC
TWSDA as a partner of GNAEC has been implementing project
activities in Senbagh Upazillas of Noakhali district and
Ramgonj upazila of Lakshmipur districts since 2002.
A total of 2,706 households are being supported through
Fish Farming Groups (FFG) to achieve sustainable development
through an increased production of fish using improved integrated
farming system techniques
